Dredger was done participating in affairs with corps. He knew that if they found out what was literally in his head, they would kill him for it. The Wuxing debrief idea from BMW was thoughtful, but he just couldn’t assume that his secret would remain safe. And on the other side of the coin, Cowl made it impossible to go back to Macao. It just wasn’t happening. What were his options then? This group of blood mages, despite the negative vibes folks normally get from this sort of ilk, seem to be decent enough folk. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” has allowed for some quick alliances, be they unfounded and a bit shaky, at best. But it is better than anything else out there.
What Dredge needs is upgrades. If he is going to be able to survive off these tiny islands, in any civilized area, he’ll need to get some…..modifications. Update his chrome, and track down that supposed power back that can keep his E.C.V.S. running for long periods. As much as he gets along with this new group, Dredger’s original thoughts of them being ill equipped and undermanned to fight a demon remains the same. This might be goodbye to the group. For now, at least. He’s really enjoyed working with them, but it might be time to go back to the U.C.A.S. and apply his Runner skills in that sector for a while. Track down the ass hats in that area that betrayed him, and get some answers out of them. Or just some revenge that will be disguised as justice. If he’s able to find that power pack, all the better. He’ll talk to Z3R0 about getting a falsified SIN (or two) set up and head back to Seattle. With help from Gan Ning the smuggler, he’d make it back. It’ll be sad, and he hopes the group doesn’t see this as him turning his tail out of fear. It is just the simple matter of no preparation or resources to pick a fight with an ancient demon. If and when the stars align though…..he’ll return to his bái chī friends. Someone’s gotta watch their back!
